Shrikant Yoga Centres - Belgaum

Shrikant Yoga Centres, Located in the picturesque hills on the boarder between Karnataka and Maharashtra, in the city of Belgaum, provide two locations for your convenience. Our centers teach the tradition of Iyengar Yoga, utilizing machines of various nature designed by both our very own Dr. Abhay Keste, and BKS Iyengar, in order to get the most benefit possible for one’s healing practice.Our instructor Dr. Abhay Keste, has been practicing Iyengar yoga since his early youth.

He completed his two year yoga training at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI), he additionally holds a degree in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery. The Shrikant Yoga Centre has been honored with the presence of BKS himself, as an honored guest in 1999 to inaugurate the opening of the second Shrikant Center. The focus of our center is healing through yoga, we have people come from all around India and the world to heal their physical problems.

There are 5 classes at the main center, ranging from one hour to two hours in length, they are from 6 to 7am in the mornings, and 4-9pm in the evenings. Private therapy sessions are provided at both centers throughout the day, come in for a consultation to help us create the best schedule for your needs. We also provide separate classes for woman and children. Saturdays are days of rest at the main center, there will be no classes on this day. The cost of a class is Rs.200/hour, or an arrangement can be made if one wishes to practice at our studio for a longer period of time.

Specialities

Yoga means Unique between the mind, body and spirit. It involves the practice of physical postures and poses, which is sometimes referred to as ‘asana’ in Sanskrit. The practice of yoga is more than ASANAS. It is where we learn to connect the body, fluctuations of the mind (Vritti), and the rhythm of breath (Pranayama) Connecting the mind, body and breath helps us to focus on our innerself and become more aware of our thought patterns without judgment. We become more attuned to our experiences and feelings.

Yoga uses relaxation and meditation techniques to calm or still the mind. Yoga increases the lubrication of joints, ligaments, tendons and creates a leaner,stable,flexiable and more toned body. As we age our spine ages as well, practicing yoga strengthens the spine and our muscular skeletal system. This practice is very helpful for anyone recovering from any sports injuries or surgeries. Yoga brings calmness and releases any stress or tension within the body.
