Jeevaneeyam Ayurvedic Hospital - Kollam

During the year 1949, Arya Vaidyan Vanchiyoor Narayanan Potty ,who was a landlord, completed his Ayurvedic and Kathakali training under the great legendary Asta Vaidyan Aryan Narayanan Mooss of Vayaskkara illom, Kottayam ,thought of setting up an Ayurvedic Vaidyasala along with his illom. Later after understanding the medical requirements of the local people, most of them who were deprived of medical facilities, he started making many ayurvedic medicines by hand for the needy patients.

With his knowledge and curiosity he could develop many and highly effective special combinations of ayurvedic medicines to fight against dreaded diseases like Rheumatic fever , Rheumatoid Arthritis , Rheumatic Heart Disease and various types of cancers. After the sad demise of the Founder , in the year 2002, his son Arya Vaidyan Vanchiyoor Purushothaman Potty – Medical Director of Jeevaneeyam Ayurvedic Hospital who was his disciple continued to head the Vaidyasala and shifted it to Sooranad as a Hospital. Getting the concept of Ancient treatment with modern Pathology , he added a computerized Laboratory to the Hospital.

Additional Information

Ayurveda is an ancient system of life (ayur) knowledge (veda) arising in India thousands of years ago. Ayurveda theory evolved from a deep understanding of creation. The great rishis or seers of ancient India came to understand creation through deep meditation and other spiritual practices. The rishis sought to reveal the deepest truths of human physiology and health. They observed the fundamentals of life, organized them into an elaborate system, and compiled India’s philosophical and spiritual texts, called Veda of knowledge.

Ayurveda was first recorded in the Veda, the world’s oldest existing literature. The three most important Veda texts containing the original and complete knowledge of Ayurveda, believed to be over 1200 years old, is still in use today. These Ayurvedic teachings were customarily passed on orally from teacher to student for over 1000 years. The wisdom of Ayurveda is recorded in Sanskrit, the ancient language of India that reflects the philosophy behind Ayurveda and the depth within it.

Specialities

Rheumatoid Arthiritis : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints. While inflammation of the tissue around the joints and inflammatory arthritis are characteristic features of rheumatoid arthritis, the disease can also cause inflammation and injury in other organs in the body. The disease usually begins gradually with fatigue, morning stiffness (lasting more than one hour), widespread muscle aches, loss of appetite, and weakness. Eventually, joint pain appears. When the joint is not used for a while, it can become warm, tender, and stiff. When the lining of the joint (synovium) becomes inflamed, it gives off more fluid and the joint becomes swollen. Joint pain is often felt on both sides of the body, and may affect the wrist, knees, elbows, fingers, toes, ankle or neck.

Rheumatic Fever : Term Rheumatic refers to pain in muscles, bones or joints. In Rheumatic Fever, fever will be accompanied with swelling, pain in the joints especially small joints and sore throat .

INFERTILITY : Ayurveda sees male and female fertility as the ultimate act of creation and as the most powerful driving force of human destiny. According to the principles of anatomy and physiology within Ayurveda practice, fertility is the sum total of optimal food digestion as well as optimal experiences.Healthy female and male fertility requires a healthy digestive fire, quality of tissue and free flowing channels in order for the reproductive system to be well nourished. This is because according to Ayurveda, digestive fire converts food that enters the stomach into the essence of food, which then flows and nourishes the tissues within the body.
