Asthma : Asthma is a chronic condition involving the respiratory system. It is called as Tamaka shwasa in Ayurvedic texts. It is a disease in which the airways occasionally constrict, become inflamed, and are lined with excessive amounts of mucus, often in response to one or more triggers. The vitiated Kapha is said to be the main factor responsible for this. These episodes may be triggered by such things as exposure to an environmental stimulant such as an allergen, environmental tobacco smoke, cold or warm air, perfume, pet dander, moist air, exercise or exertion, or emotional stress. In children, the most common triggers are viral illnesses such as those that cause the common cold. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing. The airway constriction responds to bronchodilators. Between episodes, most patients feel well but can have mild symptoms and they may remain short of breath after exercise for longer periods of time than the unaffected individual. The symptoms of asthma, which can range from mild to life threatening, can usually be controlled with a combination of drugs and environmental changes. But it can be completely cured with evidence based therapies offered by Ayushree Ayurvedic Hospital & Research Centre.
Hypothyroid : Currently increasing number of patients are suffering from Hypothyroidism. It is a condition in which the Thyroid gland which is an important endocrine gland of our body becomes underactive and starts producing less than normal quantities of thyroxine. Thyroxine is a hormone which is very crucial for metabolism, growth of our body and overall functions. Less than normal quantities of Thyroid leads to overproduction of TSH (Thyroid stimulating Hormone) which is produced by pituitary gland. It is the levels of this hormone which are found elevated in patients of Hypothyroidism. This shortfall in the amount of thyroxin released leads to various health complaints like weight gain, excessive fatigue, swelling on the body, dryness of the skin hoarseness of voice, excessive hair fall, state of confusion, decreased tolerance of cold weather, menstrual problems in females etc. Many people particularly females also suffer from Vitamin B 12 deficiency and Vitamin D deficiency which further worsens their complaints.
