Yoga: Derived from the Sanskrit word for 'union', yoga refers to far more than exercise. It encompasses a variety of disciplines designed to ultimately bring its practitioners closer to true nature. Rajayoga seeks reunion through mediation, while Jnanayoga entails the study of scriptures and Karma yoga calls for selfness service to God and mankind.

At Kerala Ayurveda Wellness Center, Jaipur, the exercise are Hata yoga, a discipline intended to prepare the body for the pursuit of union with the divine while raising the practitioners awareness of creation to a higher, keener state. Through Pranayama (controlled breathing), Asana (prescribed postures) and meditation, the Ashtanga yoga master helps one to enhance Prana, or life force, and achieve a state of balance and harmony between body and mind.

Each of these three disciplines contributes to the search for union in its own way. Breathing : As the life force Prana is believed to enter the body through the breath, much of Pranayama is concerned with helping you to regulate your breathing properly.

Postures : Some yoga postures are intended to strength and strengthen muscles, other to improve posture and work the skeletal system, while others aim to compress and relax the organs and nerves. Meditation : Meditation supplements and reinforces the disciplines of thought by focusing the mind and relaxing the body.

Specialities

Synchronized Massage (Abyangam): A masterpiece of Kerala Ayurveda discovered from the classics and improvised for the modern generation. This full body massage is done with medicated herbal oils by two therapists in a synchronized manner for 45 minutes. According to classical texts, this massage is indicated daily to prevent ageing and degeneration process. Kerala Ayurveda has pioneered this therapy as per the ancient Ayurveda classics and standardized the procedure with a specific number of strokes.

This therapy will treat the whole body physically, mentally and emotionally while balancing the doshas. Its rhythmic motion helps to relieve joints and muscles from stiffness and helps in free body movements. This stimulating treatment increases blood circulation, which in turn encourages quick removal of metabolic wastes, while providing relief to diseases such as anxiety, fatigue, circulatory disorders, wrinkles and scales, improving physical consistency, enabling sound sleep, increasing general sense of well being and life span. It also improves the complexion and texture of the skin. 

Herbal Steam Bath: Warm herbal oil is first applied gently over the body. After which, the individual is made to sit inside a steam chamber, with the head outside. The chamber lets out herbal steam from medicinal herbs, making the individual perspire profusely which promotes cohesion between cells. The steam will open up the pores of the skin, thereby removing all wastes and pacifying the three doshas. Its’s a great therapy for toning the skin and giving it a special glow.

Shirodhara: Lukewarm herbal oil is poured in a continuous stream onto the forehead, while receiving a gentle massage on the head. Shirodhara rejuvenates and revitalizes the body and mind. This therapy relieves stress and strain related problems, slows the ageing process, improves memory and is known to have a curative effect for paralysis, insomnia, depression, anxiety, hypertension and other neurological malfunctions. It bestows better vision better hearing, clears nasal problems and calms the body and mind, shirodhara ultimately strengthens the physical constitution of the individual.

Shirovastii : Lukewarm medicinal herbal oil is poured into a cap fitted on the head. A great therapy for treating paralysis, insomnia, depression, etc. Pizhichil: A king among the traditional therapies and a specialty of Kerala! This therapy is a beautiful combination of two classical Ayurveda treatments, Snehana (oleation) and Swedana. The whole body is subjected to streams of lukewarm medicated oil with simultaneous soft massage. This therapy protects the body from illness and builds up immunity for a healthy life. It is very useful for rheumatic diseases, arthritis, paralysis, sexual weakness, neurological disorders, blood pressure and nervous weakness and helps arrest the ageing process.

Njavara Kizhi: A body massage with small cotton cloth boluses filled with cooked Nijvara rice after a liberal application of medicated oil over the entire body. He rice is cooked in cow’s milk and herbal decoction. The boluses are dipped in the same mixture of cow’s milk and herbal decoction, and applied all over the body to induce sudation (sweat). This procedure is highly rejuvenating, nourishing and prepares the individual to bear the stress and strain of a busy lifestyle. It enhances physical consistency, strengthens the nervous system and improves the overall appearance of the skin.

Ela Kizhi: This therapy begins with the application of suitable medicated oil to the entire body. The body is then subjected to exude profusely through a massage with boluses of chopped and fried leaves of some specific medicinal herbs after dipping in particular medicated oils. This therapy is effective for various kinds of arthritis, spondylosis, back pain, sports injuries and for all other soft tissue, inflammations especially joint pains.

Udwarthanam: This is a typical deep and dry massage with herbal powders. This massage stimulates hair follicies and subcutaneous fat tissue to break down subcutaneous fat storage. The dry powder massage reduces blood cholesterol obesity, skin problems, imparts mobility to the joints, strengthens muscles and refreshes the body. What’s more, it also helps slimming of the body.
