Additional Information

Ayurveda the science of life, is a very comprehensive system of healing, which has its roots in the vedas, the oldest scriptures of India. According to Ayurveda the cosmic consciousness and the five basic elements (Panchamahabhutas) combine to form the building blocks of physical existence. The bodily functions are regulated by the tridoshas and the harmonious interplay among the doshas, is believed to be the foundation of sound health. Ayurveda is concerned with preventing diseases through moderation in diet, work, play and rest. The basis of all Ayurvedic treatments is the balancing of energies within us to restore wholeness.

Rigorous scientific scrutiny into Ayurvedic techniques have revealed that many disorders that fail to respond to other forms of treatment respond to Ayurvedic remedies. The harmony between the mind –body-and soul leads to a healthy living which can be accomplished by making ayurveda and yoga our way of life. The two sciences are available in Sanskrit, the mother of all Indian languages. It is believed that Sanskrit grammer, yoga and ayurveda were all written by the same sage who took birth after birth to accomplish it in times immemorial. Prajna kuteera intends to promote all these three for a healthy living because it is believed that the impurities of the mind are cleansed by yoga, that of speech by Sanskrit grammer and that of the body by ayurveda.

Specialities

The treatments in Ayurveda has been broadly classified and dealt under three lines of management namely Shamana (Conservative / Paliative), Shodana (Purificatory) and Nidana Parivarjana (Preventive of positive factors). The treatment aims at tackling the doshas effectively to be brought to a state of equillibrium. The doshas that have diminished activity have to be nurtured, the hyper doshas have to be subdued, palliated and the aggraveated doshas have to be eliminated through purification procedure (Panchakarma) thus bringing them to normalacy. The normal doshas have to be protected through the toughtful application of Dinacharya (Daily Regemine), Ruthucharya (Seasonal Regemine), Sadvrutha (Good Conduct) and Rasayana Chikitsa to keep the diseases at bay.

Rasayana or Rejuvenation is the means of obtaining the best qualities of dhatus(body tissues). Literally the term rasayana refers to the means of obtaining the optimum nourishment to dhatus, thus the rasayana is a specialized type of treatment influencing the fundamental aspects of the organism viz. dhatus, agnis and srotas leading to an overall improvement in the organism which affords prevention of ageing, resistance against diseases, bodily strength and improvement in mental faculties. Though ayurveda is a science of life explaining the totality of life with preventive and curative aspects, it also considers the social and  beauty aspects to complete the definition of health specially narrated by the great sage  sushrutha.

So Prajna Kuteera consideres soundarya chikitsa equally important. One of the famous ayurvedic classical texts Sharangadhara Samhita explains in detail about Soundarya Chikitsa to KESHA (Hair Treatment), MUKHA (Face Treatment), HASTHA (Treatment to Hands), PADA (Treatment to Legs) by using special medicated Herbs, Milk, Oils, Herbal pastes and so on to cure the diseases and to enhance the beauty.
