Mitra ayurveda has a long – standing Tradition in the field of ancient Indian medical science. It dates back to 1915 when His Highness Sree Chithira Thirunal Maharaja granted permission to Sree P.K.Narayanan Vaidyan to start an Ayurveda pharmacy named after the maharaja in kollam. Our parental pharmacy, Sree Chithra still manufactures high quality special ayurvedic formulations which are used in treating even the most difficult ailments at Mitra Hermitage.

The concept of Mitra ayurveda was conceived by Dr.N.Sreedharan, former director of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy. In 1994 he along with Dr.Mahesh Sreedharan started Mitra Ayurvedic Research Centre in Trivandrum. It aimed at pioneering research in ayurvedic medicine and clinical trials. In 1996 Dr.Mahesh Sreedharan along with his wife Dr.Anitha Mahesh started Mitra Centre for Panchakarma in Vizhinjam on the southern end of Kovalam beach. Mitra Hermitage was started in the Year 2009.
