Knowledge of life was the central principle and mission for late M.C.Kunjuraman Vaidyan ( 1881 -1946), the legendary connoisseur of Ayurveda, in founding Sree Rama Krishna Pharmacy widely known as Chingoli Ayurveda Hospital, in 1908. He was blessed with rare wisdom accumulated as a disciple of Mootha Koyi Thampuran, popularly known as Kerala Vagbhatan of Ananthapuram Palace, Haripad.

About half a decade after its inauguration by Kerala Panini, A.R. RAJA RAJAVARMA KOYI THAMPURAN, this noble cause was further nourished and expanded by the great visionary R. Krishnan Vaidyan (l911-1993). He took his Vaidya Kalanidhi from Government Ayurveda College, Trivandrum in 1934, was a member of Board of studies in Ayurveda faculty of Kerala University and above all was widely known and esteemed as a committed physician. Arthritis : This disease is mainly seen in two forms. When associated with excessive toxins or Aama,there may be swelling, fever, heaviness and restricted movements in joints. It is termed as Aamavata (Rheumatoid arthritis).The first line of treatment will be internal medicines to correct digestion and to reduce fever and swelling in joints. Warm fomentation with herbal powder and medicinal wraps are ideal in this stage. Whereas in chronic arthritis there will not be any fever but movements will be restricted with pain and swelling.This is termed as sandhivata / Osteo-arthritis.This is treated with oil massage, Certain type of fomentation with herbal powders, oil bath to local part (sneha dhara) and shathika pinda swedam (Njavara kizhi). After assessing the level of toxins in the body, your doctor may advice detoxifying Panchakarma therapies such as Virechana (Purgation) or Vasti (oil based enemas and medicinal Enemas) to expel the toxins from the system followed by internal medicines for a complete recovery.There are other types of diseases connected to joint pain like Gout, Psoriatic arthritis, Rheumatic fever etc. Treatment varies according to the signs and symptoms.

Low Back Ache : Vata predomince is seen in Kadeegraham (Low back pain). Wrong postures, Prolapsed,herniated or bulge of intervertebral disk, Sprain in muscle or ligament, inflammation of the pelvic joints, chronic constipation,arthritis of spine,sciatica any of this can cause either a sudden or a gradual onset of low back ache.Oral medication and treatments like kadeevasti, Sneha dhara, Dhanyamla dhara, pathrapotala swedam and vasthi(Herbal enemas) helps to alleviate the visciated Vata.Certain Yoga postures are also helpful for strengthening the spine.

Obesity :

The reasons for overweight vary from family history, sedentary life style, lack of exercise, hormonal imbalance, anxiety, food habits etc. Deep dry massages with herbal powders or herbal pastes (Udwarthanam) therapeutic massage with specific oils (Abhyanga), steam bath, special diet and yoga sessions works as a life style modification program. In certain cases Panchakarma therapies(Body purification modules) are also administered.At krishnendu we combine modern therapies like deep heat therapy, vacuum therapy and shaper for spot reduction and inch loss.

Diabetes : This is a Metabolic disorder in which body fails in the proper utilization of glucose produced at the end of digestion. This can lead to impaired or increased glucose level in the blood and urine. Ayurvedic treatments range from simple oral medications to some purificatory treatments like Panchakarma procedures based on the necessity of the condition. Geriatrics : Then how can we age gracefully. We have to start the healthy basics from the child hood to maintain a healthy and well nourished body. Mental health should also be taken care of avoiding unnessary stress and strain. Even though we cannot prevent chronological aging, we can prevent physiological aging by keeping physical fitness. Psychological aging also can be slowed down with Yoga and other mental relaxation techiniques. In Ayurvedic science Rejuvenation or Rasayana treatment is advised specially for individuals who have concern about a health issue or experience physical discomfort or emotional turbulence in their lives. Depression : According to Ayurvedic science there are two main causes for depression-Imbalance in the three doshas such as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Lack of awareness of one’s deeper, inner Self. In Most of the depression cases, kapha imbalance is mainly seen. Initially the brain’s electrochemistry goes into an erratic overreaction by vata imbalance. This triggers a loss of enzymatic activity in the metabolism which establishes a pitta imbalance. Kapha acts by trying to let everything down, bringing in heaviness, darkness, and stagnation in mind. Eventually mind interprets this chain reactions as a negative message of hopelessness and leads to depression. The ayurvedic methods of treating depression includes treatment like Sneha panam, (A pre requiste module for cleansing treatments) Vamanam (Emesis) shiro dhara , thakra dhara. Shiro lepanam etc. Ayurveda offers very effective indvidulised treatments for depression without negative effects and a promising possibility of prevention. It promotes higher levels of psychological health and mindset.

Infertility : One among the eight clinical branches of Ayurveda- ‘Vrushya chikitsa’ – deals with treatment for various conditions which can lead to infertility. Even though the sperm production or ovulation is normal, there are some conditions where the implantation of the zygote does not take place. Male infertility: Ayurveda has effective treatment for male impotence, low libido, erectile dysfunction, low sperm count and related problems. Internal and external treatments are advised according to the the clinical findings. Female infertility: According to Ayurveda, there are 4 main factors responsible for an effective and healthy conception– Ritu (proper ovulation and healthy permeation), Kshethram (pure and favorable uterine atmosphere), Ambu (proper nourishment and blood circulation), Beejam (healthy zygote). Impairment in any one of the above factors can cause infertility. Ayurveda has effective treatment for female infertility related problems, gynecological disorders, hormone related problem like pcos, obecity, ante-natal, pre-natal, and post natal health care. Swedanam-medicated steam bath : Different combinations of herbs are boiled in water and this medicated steam mobilizes accumulated ama (toxins inside the body) in the srotas (body channels) and thus fee your body of toxins.Abhyangam : A unique massage, which rejuvenates and balances the energies.

Snehadhara: Rightly named the Stream of Love, this involves pouring warm medicated oil in a rhythmic way and gently massaging it on the whole body. Recommended for Diabetic Neuropathy, Poor blood circulation, stroke and spinal disorders.

Shirodhara : This treatment is indicated for the diseases affecting brain. It involves pouring medicated oil (dhara) on the crucial points on forehead as prescribed by the Vedas. It provides cooling refreshment to your head recommended for stress, anxiety and sleeplessness.

Njavara Kizhi : Njavara(Special type of rice with high medical value) is cooked with herbal decoction and milk. It is made up in to boluses and tied up in cotton bags A massage with medicated oil and then with these boluses helps the body to foment, rejuvenates and tones up weak muscles. Effective in spine related problems, arthritis, stroke and muscle weakness.
