Dhanwanthari Vaidyasala was established as Company in 1933 by Late Vaidyan C.N. Namboothiri, at the age of 23 yrs., as a humble beginning. After 7 Years of academic career in 'Gurukulam'- a school as per the traditional Kerala culture, he started this firm with only a few Ayurvedic manufacturing companies established in India.The modern concepts of Marketing was very much in wanting when he had decided to brave his passion to a marketing framework designed by him. He was a pioneer in institutionalizing the concept of Ayurvedic medicine marketing & treatment in Kerala.

Even in late 30’s he had patients from North Indian States and its been recorded that even in such a nascent stage he had developed Dhanwanthari Vaidyasala into a National brand name. His vision was unforeseen in Kerala’s industrial approach at the time. He thus had carved out a niche for the firm and himself in those days itself.Apart from placing the firm meritoriously, he proved to be an eminent Physician too. He had patients even from abroad and outside Kerala. He had visited various States in America & Europe in early 70’s on request from his patients.

Entry of Ayurveda into Sports Medicine could be a milestone to the industry as such. Using this science to enhance performance and to manage related injuries was conceived by Dhanwanthari Group for the first time in India as a Company. This branch demands innovation and sound basic knowledge of the science with a research mind for untrodden tracks.

The package, including medication, therapy and regimen, need be developed for each faculty of sports. Sports Medicine is relatively a new and emerging branch in Ayurveda. The first such Sports Centre was launched by Dhanwanthari in 2008 at the Regional Sports Centre in Kochi.

In 2010, Usha School of Athletics, initiated by former Olympian PT Usha, officially announced their tie up with Dhanwanthari Vaidyasala to compliment their pursuit of creating Olympians and bringing the first Athletics Olympics medal to India. Similarly, work has been initiated for an Ayurvedic Centre at Muttom Shooting Range in Kerala affiliated to National Rifles Association of India.

We have adopted modern technology only in pre-processing stages like raw material analysis, disintegration, and pulverization, concentration of Kashayams, herbal extraction process and in post production packing. These modern techniques facilitate the dissemination of higher values and worth of Ayurveda among the common people.

Sports Medicine : The first such Sports Centre was launched by Dhanwanthari in 2008 at the Regional Sports Centre in Kochi. Similarly, work has been initiated for an Ayurvedic Centre at Muttom Shooting Range in Kerala affiliated to National Rifles Association of India.Ayurvedic Industries is very much aware of the situation where herbs as raw materials is unable to meet ever increasing demand globally. They have long realized that cultivation of the same is the only way out in the longer run.

Dhanwanthari Vaidyasala was depending on collection centres and old time dealers for raw materials. However, in the new millennium they initiated the Herbal Division with a nursery and entered into buy back agreements with farmers providing them with seedlings and pre-fixed purchase price.Dhanwanthari maintains traditional methodology for Ayurvedic Medicine preparation.

For example, the vessels for preparation of fermented products are earthen vessels. (The natural temperature regulation in porous vessel is unique and the medicine will be having 24 to 28 degree Celsius temperatures through out, ensuring ideal conditions for the natural fermenting agents).The vessels for production are either brass or copper in specified shapes. In addition, we have adopted the sterilization of pots, powder etc. to keep up the hygiene standards.

They are now entering into understanding with various communities and farming clusters for the implementation of the same.
