Bowen Works
Our Profile
Bowen is a holistic therapy which works at all levels; physically, emotionally and spiritually. Bowen was founded in Australia by the late Tom Bowen, who discovered that making small and gentle movements on strategic points in the body generated an integrated healing response. You can see photos of some these movements below.

It is suitable for the newborn through to the elderly and stunning results can often be observed after only a few treatments; even for chronic complaints. I became interested in Bowen when most other physical therapies had failed to help my chronic back pain. Bowen gave me significant relief and I was impressed by the subtleties of the approach.

I studied for my Diploma under the Bowen Academy of Australia (Bowtech) and I also have the ITEC Anatomy and Physiology Diploma. I am a full member of the Bowen Practitioners associated with the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia and the UK Association. In June 2005 I was voted on to the Committee of the UK Bowen Association.

I have recently been accepted as a member of the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners, and I am a professional member of Backcare and Pain Concern.
I have a particular interest in treating dancers and musicians injuries, women's health problems, stress, back pain, chronic fatigue, chronic health complaints (generally) and shoulder injuries. I am also quite willing to work with patients whose injuries have not responded well to other therapies in the past, or to whom I am the 'last resort'.

I welcome GP referrals and I am also very happy to give talks to any interested groups/individuals, especially within the NHS or Human Resources Departments. I am committed to working towards the development of integratingBowen (amongst other therapies) within the NHS.

I have written a number of articles about the Bowen Technique, and have had several published including one by the BBC. I recently responded to a question about treating chronic inflammation of the Achilles tendon raised in the latest edition of the British Medical Journal.

I have also had articles published about me in the Cambridge Explorer Magazine and Cambridge One Time Magazine. I am currently starting a research project of my own to demonstrate the effects and benefits of the Bowen Technique. The aim of this research project is to find out what non-medical clientele understand about Bowen Therapy and what is happening to them during a treatment.
