These plans are based on constitutional testing methods, e.g. Eastern pulse and tongue diagnosis, as well as a thorough health history. State of the art laboratory testing is also available if necessary. Custom formulated herbal extracts and lifestyle changes are the primary therapies employed, along with adjunct use of nutritional supplements, essential oils, flower essences, and referrals to other health care professionals as each situation may require. Botanical (herbal) therapies provide superior support for many chronic and sub-acute health issues such as high blood pressure, allergies, headaches, PMS & menopause, pregnancy related issues, low blood sugar, skin problems, arthritis, low energy, mood disorders, cancer support, substance abuse recovery, weight management and many other health issues.
Used properly under professional guidance, herbs are relatively free of side effects. Applied as nutritive tonics, herbs are an essential part of any comprehensive preventive health care plan or strength/endurance training program. Howard also teaches classes and offers public lectures on the holistic applications of herbal therapies. Even though modern science is helping us to understand, as well as validate, the chemical medicinal properties of many herbs, the healing power of herbs includes much more than just the bioactive phyto-chemical constituents they contain. Herbs are also nutritive foods which contain proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other organic and energetic components that complement the human body by supporting and nurturing all the various systems and organs. Most importantly, herbs are a healing gift and blessing from the Great Mother (Divinity) and contain much more than can be ultimately measured by science.
The inclusion of herbs in our healing process allows us the opportunity for a direct reconnection with and experience of the profound healing and grounding energy of the Great Mother... that powerful source of life and nurture that is the feminine heart of the earth itself.Howard can be contacted at medical_herbalist@yahoo.com. *The American Herbalists Guild (AHG) was formed in 1989 as a non-profit, educational organization to represent the goals and voices of herbalists. It is the only peer-review organization in the U.S. for professional herbalists specializing in the medicinal use of plants. AHG membership consists of professionals, general members (including students) and benefactors.
