Shiatsu is a Japanese therapy that has its origins in Oriental medical theory and massage techniques. The Japanese adopted Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practices and enhanced its methods to develop a unique form of treatment called Shiatsu.

Shiatsu combines the principles of TCM with practices similar to those of acupuncture but performed without needles. Though Eastern and Western medical practices seem to have little in common both, investigate the human body and its functions. Eastern medicine has accumulated knowledge about the workings and composition of the human body, just as western medicine has.
