Our Profile
Our mission is to create exceptional massage therapists by utilizing advanced educational techniques. It is more than a slogan. We make education fun, exciting and personal. By the time the course is through, we will help you develop the skills you need to give an exceptional massage.
At the Bodymechanics School of Myotherapy & Massage, we create graduates that have advanced skills and techniques. More importantly, our graduates learn to use this knowledge to help their clients feel better and recover from muscular aches and pains. Our focus is on sound, solid massage theory, technique and study of the human body. This allows us to maximize your educational foundation and ensure your excellence as a massage therapist. Our course specializes in deep tissue and injury treatment massage techniques, yet offers a well-rounded blend of bodywork styles that combine to create a comprehensively trained therapist. During the course, you will find that your personal development and relationship skills are enhanced by the entire educational process. This comprehensive course prepares you to succeed as a massage therapist, provide quality bodywork, and achieve consistent results with your clients and patients.
Bodymechanics is the only state-approved massage school in the nation that is based in a hospital facility. This location gives us the unique opportunity to collaborate with and influence the western model of health care. We see our program as neither specifically "traditional" nor "alternative," but more as a bridge between eastern and western medical philosophies and techniques. Washington State classifies massage therapists as "ancillary medical providers," and in fact Bodymechanics' graduates will be fully trained to provide a variety of therapeutic bodywork modalities from relaxation and spa-based massage to structural and injury treatment. The learning environment is fun and stimulating. While some students may be concerned about returning to school after taking “a few” years off, we think you will be relieved to find that our teachers are patient and eager to see you succeed. Our teaching staff is composed of professionals in their respective health fields, and all are successful in their own practices.
Our licensing course is an intensive and comprehensive educational program. Upon satisfying all graduation requirements, you will be prepared and qualified to take the National Certification Exam, now required for licensing in Washington State. Upon successfully passing the National Certification exam and paying the required licensing fee, you will become a Washington State Bodymechanics SchoolLicensed Massage Practitioner (LMP) as well as being Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. While Washington law requires our curriculum to be at least 500 hours and span at least six months in duration, we have expanded our program to 900 hours over a twelve-month period. This gives you the time you need to develop your skills under the supervision of experienced instructors. Mark Twain once said, “I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.” Simply put, schools can get in the way of the learning process.
At Bodymechanics, each subject is taught by considering numerous learning styles. Whether you are an auditory, visual or kinesthetic learner, we'll make each subject understandable, effective and fun. At Bodymechanics School, we believe that a strong understanding of the human body is essential to being a successful massage therapist. You will find our course content balanced and relevant to your new career. Our program offers a great combination of academic and hands-on training.
