Reiki

When the need is answered

If Reiki is practiced regularly, it can have a very positive effect and influence. One of the major problems with modern life is the very pace of life itself – every day seems to be hectic, full of demands and pressure which result in stress, discomfort and ragged emotions. These emotional ups and downs and stressful pressures are smoothed out by Reiki.
A more balanced approach to life is developed ; a greater inner harmony is achieved which means that the quality of life improves and any illnesses or condition become less of a problem, responds more readily to treatment, or is cleared up seemingly of its own accord. The flow of energy from Reiki ensures that there is harmony between the Third Eye (which identifies the ideal path for the individual) and the root chakra (or energy center).

The significance of charkas with Reiki

Chakras are a common concept in several disciplines of alternative medicine or traditional Asian medicine. A chakra is a center of energy, subtle energy in Reiki, which has several functions. In addition to being ‘representative’ of a particular organ or group of organs, a chakra also controls our being on different levels and it links these two representative states.

The charkas

In Reiki there are considered to be seven major and a number of minor charkas. These are from the lowest to the highest: the root chakra, the sexual chakra, the personality chakra, the heart chakra, the expressive chakra, the knowledge chakra, the crown chakra.

The number of major charkas does vary in some instances, e.g. Hindu yoga has six centres, but the greatest variation is in the minor charkas. In some regimes of therapy ten minor charkas are identified, and these are interconnected with the major charkas.

A typical system could be:

  • one in the arch of each foot, connected to the first and third charkas
  • one in each knee joint, connected to the fifth and sixth charkas
  • one in each palm, connected to the second, third and fourth charkas
  • one in each elbow, connected to the second and third charkas
  • one below each shoulder, connected to the third and fifth charkas
