Essential Oils

Chamomild (Roman)
Chamaemelum Nobile

           There are several varieties, but Roman chamomile is the essential oil of choice for home use. It is used by therapists to treat many skin complaints and promotes the healing of burns, cuts, bites and inflammations. It is also effective in allergic conditions and can have a beneficial effect on menstrual problems when used regularly in the bath. It seems to be effective in reducing stress and anxiety and problems such as headache, migranine and insomnia. As an analgesic, it is used in the treatment of earache, toothache, neuraligia and abscesses, and is popular for treating childhood illnesses.

CAUTIONS :
Chamomile is generally non-toxic and non-irritant, but may cause dermatitis in very sensitive individuals.

Clary sage
Salvia sclarea

Clary sage is possessed of antispasmodic, antidepressant, balsamic, carminative, tonic, aperitive, astringent, anti-inflammatory, bactericidal and antiseptic qualities. It is valuable in stress-related conditions and has an anti-hypertensive effective. Essential Oil  and MedicineA thick mucilage can be made from the seeds, which was traditionally used for removing particles of dust from the eyes. Clary sage is also indicated in the treatment of colds and throat infections. It is also good for regulating menstrual problems and for soothing problem skin, particularly if dry or sensitive.

CAUTION :
It should be avoided during pregnancy and also in conjunction with alcohol consumption. However, in general, clary sage has very low toxicity levels and is therefore preferable to garden sage for use in aromatherapy.
